Spain were left frustrated by Sweden in the first goalless draw of Euro 2020.
Sporting a new look squad, not including a single Real Madrid player for the very first time, Luis Enrique’s side had entered the competition with a point to prove.
However, despite dominating proceedings and having several golden opportunities, they could not find a way past their opponents and were forced to settle for a tie.
A superb reflex save from Robin Olsen prevented Dani Olmo heading his side in front and Alvaro Morata also dragged a clear shot on goal wide of his mark in the first half.
Janne Andersson’s side twice hit the Spanish on the break with Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak causing them problems, having one shot cleared off the line by Marcos Llorente and creating a chance that Marcus Berg should have converted but instead sliced wide.
Spain had a strong spell of pressure towards the end of the game with Gerard Moreno and Pablo Sarabia both spurning great chances and wasteful finishing from both sides meant the match always looked destined to end goalless.
