Netherlands won 3-2 over Ukraine in a thrilling Euro 2020 match.

Two quickfire goals early in the second half from Georginio Wijnaldum and Wout Weghorst looked to have won the game for Frank de Boer’s side.

However, Ukraine responded late on with a sublime Andriy Yarmolenko goal being followed up by Roman Yaremchuk’s finish.

Holland retook the lead on 85 minutes through right wing-back Denzel Dumfries’ header.

It was easily one of the most entertaining games so far of the tournament with frantic attacking play throughout.

Wijnaldum, who recently signed for PSG on a free transfer from Liverpool, fired his nation into the lead on 52 minutes before Wolfsburg striker Weghorst doubled their advantage six minutes later.

The match looked to be slipping away from Andriy Shevchenko’s men but Yarmolenko’s outrageous 25-yard strike on 75 minutes and clinical Genk striker Yaremchuk’s header just three minutes later drew them level.

But the game swung back in the Netherlands’ favour on 85 minutes when Heorhiy Bushchan failed to keep out Dumfries’ header.

The Dutch held out for a memorable win to kick off their Euros campaign whilst Ukraine will feel deflated but not disheartened after giving the famous footballing nation a real test.
