Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s dramatic 95th minute equaliser earned Everton an unlikely point at Old Trafford as their superb away form continues.
Goals from Edinson Cavani and Bruno Fernandes had fired the Red Devils into a 2-0 lead heading into half-time.
An early second half rally saw Everton draw level through Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodriguez before Scott McTominay headed United back in front on 70 minutes.
But Carlo Ancelotti’s side refused to be beaten and the England centre forward poked home an equaliser with the last kick of the game.
The draw continues the Toffees’ unbeaten run away from home which now stretches back seven games, a streak they’ve only bettered on two occasions in the Premier League era in both 2010 and 2016 (each eight games long.)
This sequence looked under threat after 45 minutes with Cavani heading home from close range and Fernandes scoring from 20 yards out after the Everton defenders failed to close him down.
However, the Blues fought back in the second half as David de Gea parried a Calvert-Lewin shot and the rebound was duly converted by Doucoure.
Just moments later, the Frenchman turned provider as his fizzed pass across the area was expertly controlled and then belted home by Rodriguez, drawing the Colombian’s side level just eight minutes into the second half.
Having found a way back into the tie so impressively, the Everton players will have been frustrated to fall behind again after keeper Robin Olsen slipped and was unable to keep out McTominay’s glancing header.
In the remaining 20 minutes, Ancelotti’s men searched for an equaliser and they left it late when Calvert-Lewin cushioned a Lucas Digne free-kick on his chest and managed to slip the ball past de Gea.
The Toffees climb up to sixth with that point and head into to their FA Cup fifth round tie at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night undoubtedly buoyed by the fighting spirt Ancelotti appears to have installed into his players.
