Leeds came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Everton in an entertaining match at Elland Road.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s penalty had sent the visitors in front before Mateusz Klich equalised for Marcelo Bielsa’s side just before half-time

Demarai Gray’s first Everton goal restored his side’s lead five minutes into the second period before Raphinha’s curled strike ensured the spoils were shared.

After a humiliating 5-1 defeat at Old Trafford on the opening weekend, the Leeds supporters were hoping for an improved performance for their first Premier League match in front of a full Elland Road in 17 years.

However, it was the Toffees who made the better start and went ahead on half an hour when Calvert-Lewin converted from 12 yards after VAR had penalised Liam Cooper for pulling the shirt of the England centre forward.

But the Lilywhites responded on 41 minutes when Michael Keane’s hesitation allowed Patrick Bamford in and he squared for Klich to slot home.

A well-worked move and clinical finish from summer signing Demarai Gray saw Rafael Benitez’s side retake the lead just after half-time.

Raphinha levelled affairs on 72 minutes with a delightful shot from the edge of the area for his third goal in as many games against Everton.

In the end it was an action-packed game that both sides might have felt they could have won on another day but instead had to each settle for a draw.
