Italy become the first side to confirm their passage to the knockout stages of Euro 2020 with a 3-0 demolition of Switzerland.

Manuel Locatelli’s brace and a late strike from Ciro Immobile saw the Azzurri win by the scoreline for the second consecutive match.

It was another dominant performance from Roberto Mancini’s side despite inspirational captain Giorgio Chiellini being forced off with injury after just 24 minutes.

The 36-year-old had already scored a goal before being taken off but it was disallowed for handball.

However, they were unfazed and Locatelli gave his side the lead just two minutes after the Juventus defender’s substitution after some great work from Domenico Beradi.

The Sassuolo midfielder added his second early in the second half, his first goals for the national side, before Immobile scored his second goal of the tournament with a strike that squirmed under keeper Yann Sommer on 89 minutes.

After two commanding displays in their home stadium, the Italians are safely into the knockout stages even before they face Wales on Sunday.

Meanwhile Switzerland have it all to do when they play Turkey on the same day and even a win may only be enough to finish third in Group A, meaning their fate would be in the hands of nations in the other groups.
