A youthful Preston North End side recorded a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Bury at Gigg Lane.

Impressive solo goals from Kian Taylor and Lewis Leigh as well as a well-worked team goal finished off by Kitt Nelson were enough to put the Shakers to the sword in only their second friendly match since returning to their famous old ground.

It was a special day for Ryan Lowe who led his North End side to the win against a side where he enjoyed three  spells during his playing career as well as a brief period as their manager.

After sporadic chances for both sides, PNE took the lead in the 25th minute when Taylor abandoned his position in the centre of the defence and drove through the Bury team before unleashing a rocket past goalie Jack Atkinson.

After a fairly even first half, the young Lilywhites seemed to grow in confidence after the break and created several good chances before skipper Leigh doubled his side’s lead on 54 minutes as he danced around the Bury defenders before calmly slotting home.

They rounded off a successful day with a third goal in the 72nd minute when after a string of passes, Kaedyn Kamara’s low cross from the left found Nelson and he tucked his shot away.

It was yet another superb showing from PNE’s youngsters this pre-season and the quality of many of the players’ performances will have given Lowe plenty to think about going into the new campaign.
