19-year-old Dan Gosling scored a dramatic late winner for Everton in the 211^th Merseyside Derby.

The FA Cup fourth round replay remained goalless until the 118^th minute when the young midfielder scored a deflected winner that sent Goodison Park into delirium.

It was only the third time David Moyes has led his side to a derby victory in 16 matches and sees the Blues into the fifth round of the competition for the first time in four years.

Having been second best for much of the reverse tie at Anfield the previous week, Everton were undoubtedly the superior side throughout the replay, with aid from Steven Gerrard being forced off with an injury after just a quarter of an hour and Lucas’ 76^th minute dismissal.

Liverpool, sat two points off top of the table, started the stronger prior to Gerrard’s substitution with Xabi Alonso coming close with a long-range strike early on.

The Toffees had a great chance in the second half when a well-worked move between Mikel Arteta, Tim Cahill and Leon Osman led to the Englishman’s strike rattling Pepe Reina’s near post.

Cahill also came agonizingly close with a glancing header from a Leighton Baines corner early in the second half.

It was Gosling who stole the headlines three minutes before time when he took down Andy van der Meyde’s cross, cut inside and scoring the winner via deflections off Alvaro Arbeloa and Martin Skrtel.

The winner was missed by many TV viewers after ITV mistakenly cut to adverts during the match but this won’t have bothered Evertonians who have seen their team’s season get better and better.
