Number one ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic prepares to face Denis Shapovalov in the semi-final of Wimbledon 2021.

The Serb made it to this stage with a straight-set victory (6-3, 6-4, 6-4) over Marton Fucsovics in Wednesday’s quarter-final.

Despite a scintillating run to the final four so far, Djokovic is not underestimating his opponent.

“I’m sure that that’s going to be the biggest test I will have so far in the tournament,” he said.

“It’s going to be a battle and I need to be at my best.”

A win over the Canadian would see the 34-year-old into his third consecutive Wimbledon final, giving him a chance of winning his 20th Grand Slam.

This would draw him level with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the all-time list for men’s major single titles.

The former was heavily defeated in straight sets (6-3, 7-6, 6-0) by Hubert Hurkacz who faces Matteo Berrettini in the day’s other semi-final.

The Swiss’ defeat leaves Djokovic as strong favourite to win the entire tournament, with Berrettini being the highest-ranked player left in the competition at ninth.

The Wimbledon Men’s Singles final takes place at 2pm on Sunday.
